Bringing Christmas joy to Children in El Paso, Texas

Fort Bliss, TX — The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve has a 77-year history donating toys to less fortunate children. Maj. (Retired) Bill Hendricks is the father of the Toys for Tots program. In 1947, his wife, Diane, asked him to donate a few hand-crafted dolls to children who may be forgotten during Christmas. Upon hearing that no organization existed that helped these children, she encouraged her husband to start one. That first year, over 5,000 toys were collected and given to underprivileged children in the Los Angeles area.

On Dec. 10th, Command Sgt. Maj. Jimmy Sellers, the senior enlisted advisor for U.S. Army Materiel Command, visited the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence (NCOLCoE) and Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A) Class 75 where he spoke to students and answered questions posed by members of the class.

NCOLCoE Employee Wraps up Career Over Christmas Season

Fort Bliss, TX — For over two decades Juan Ortiz has been a staple of the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence (NCOLCoE) and the Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A). His service to the institution started while he was still on active duty in the Army. He was a graduate of the Sergeants Major Course class 52 and his final role in uniform was serving as the Chief of Training at the Sergeants Major Academy.

Sergeant Major of the Army Engages with Future Leaders at the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence

Fort Bliss, TX — Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA) Michael Weimer and his wife, Kimberly Weimer visited the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence (NCOLCoE) and the Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A) on Fort Bliss, Texas from Nov. 18th-19th. The purpose of the visit was to address Sergeants Major Course (SMC) Class 75 students and their spouses about the vital role they each have in contributing to the Army mission, as well as supporting our sister services, allies and partners around the world.

NCOLCoE Presented with Seal of Space Force

Fort Bliss, TX — On Nov. 7, 2024, Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force (CMSSF) John Bentivegna, the senior enlisted advisor for the United States Space Force visited the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence (NCOLCoE) and Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A) on Fort Bliss, Texas. During his visit, he spoke with the students of SGM-A Class 75. After his briefing Bentivegna presented Command Sgt. Maj. Tammy Everette, NCOLCoE Commandant, with the official seal of the Space Force to be displayed alongside the other service seals on the academy grounds.

NCO Leadership Center of Excellence and William Beaumont Fight the Spread of Flu

Fort Bliss, TX — In a pre-emptive effort to vaccinate all 38,000 Soldiers and Army Civilian Professionals (ACPs) on Fort Bliss from the flu, William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) dispatched a team to administer around 600 vaccines at the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence (NCOLCoE) and Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A) from Nov. 4th to 5th. The team also visited the Fort Bliss NCO Academy later in the week where they administered another 50 vaccines.

The Ultima Trunk-or-Treat: Where Spooky Meets Sweet

Fort Bliss, TX — On the evening of October 25, the Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A) campus was filled with superheroes and monsters, ready to participate in this year’s trunk-or-treat festivities. Cars were lined up and decorated, volunteers were in costume with trunks filled with sweet treats for all the children who ventured down the rows.
